123Dentist investing in future of dentistry by supporting new lobby at Dalhousie University’s Faculty of Dentistry
123Dentist is investing in the future of dentistry by supporting a new lobby at Dalhousie University’s Faculty of Dentistry, which opened on March 27, 2026.
The renovation transforms the building’s main entrance into a more modern, accessible, and welcoming space for patients, students, and faculty. It was made possible by a donation from 123Dentist, as well as 123Dentist partner and Dalhousie alumnus Dr. Charanpal Ahluwalia.
The investment reflects 123Dentist’s commitment to strengthening dentistry and recognizing dental professionals as essential to individuals’ overall health. This reinforces dentistry as the gateway to health for Canadians.
“This lobby is the front door to one of Canada’s most important dental schools, and it now looks the part,” says Jeff Leger, CEO of 123Dentist and Dalhousie alumnus. “Bright, modern, and welcoming, it reflects the calibre of what happens inside this building. At 123Dentist, we believe oral health is a gateway to overall health, and that dental professionals deserve recognition for the integral care they provide to Canadians. Spaces like this one help tell that story. We are proud to have supported that alongside Dr. Ahluwalia, a 123Dentist partner and fellow Dalhousie graduate.”

The space, now called the 123Dentist and Dr. Charanpal Ahluwalia Lobby, includes new automatic doors and an updated ramp to improve accessibility, as well as more comfortable waiting and study areas for patients and students. It contributes to larger modernization work at the Dalhousie University Faculty of Dentistry, which has included upgrading dental clinics, operating suites, and equipment in recent years.
“The entrance lobby is the face of our Faculty of Dentistry,” says Dr. Ben Davis, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at Dalhousie University. “We are grateful to have found partners in one of our alumni, Dr. Charanpal Ahluwalia, and 123Dentist, to help bring this vision to life.”
Elevating the profession of dentistry
123Dentist is committed to elevating the profession of dentistry by leading and supporting initiatives that highlight the important role dental care plays in supporting Canadians’ overall health.
The company delivers on this commitment by creating meaningful career pathways for dentists, hygienists, assistants, and other dental professionals, and by recognizing the work dental teams do to protect and enhance oral health, which research increasingly shows is deeply connected to whole-body health. Good oral health has been linked to reduced risks of heart disease, stroke, dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, gastrointestinal disease, and other conditions that affect quality of life.

To further support the future of dentistry, 123Dentist has also expanded its 123Dentist University Lecture Series to Dalhousie University.
The series aims to support dental students by providing knowledge and practical insights, particularly around the business and operational side of dentistry, to complement their dental education.
Since launching the 123Dentist University Lecture Series in 2023, 123Dentist has partnered with dental schools across Canada, including the University of Toronto, the University of British Columbia, and the University of Alberta. Through these partnerships, thousands of students have attended lectures on topics such as the business of dentistry and innovative technologies for dental hygienists, helping prepare them for successful careers in oral care.
